Global Warming Part 1 – What is Global Warming?

The next three blogs i will post will be regarding Global Warming.
this includes; What is Global Warming? What does Global Warming Affect? and The Bigger Picture.

There are several reasons for Global warming, it is largely disputed as to which is the real reason that it is occurring but the most commonly agreed with is that Global Warming is Human induced by pollutants or greenhouse gasses.

Global warming is defined as ‘A gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other pollutants’. This simply means that there are changes due to the release of greenhouse gasses that are slowly changing the temperature of the earth’s atmosphere.

Global warming happens because greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, water vapour, nitrous oxide and methane trap heat and light from the sun in the earth’s atmosphere, this in turn heats the atmosphere.

Usually there is not so much of these greenhouse gasses stored in the atmosphere, so when the radiation waves from the sun bounce off the earth they can exit. as i have just explained, vice versa happens when there is a build-up of greenhouse gasses, the radiation cannot escape the atmosphere due to the density of molecules in the atmosphere and store’s this radiation as heat energy.

What does this mean for everyone around the world? The future of the earth is not something that we can accurately predict. We have never experienced climate change and the affects are slowly getting more severe (experts say) all we can do is assume based on the data collected so far what the future holds for earth and its Inhabitants.

please follow me and i will soon be posting part 2 – What does Global Warming Affect?
